Watch our "No-Air" Pilot

What Is this?

Shot at NC Comic Con Bull City. The pilot features our guest Afua Richardson (guest bio in below section) for a stunning first look at these personal interviews with comic book creators.

There are laughs, tears, an everything in between as we discover the life of Afua Richardson. This show, and pilot, are designed to give fans an intimate look into the comic creators that are so often faceless in their notoriety.

Shot on Sony Fs5 and Fs7 cameras with a skeleton crew. The Pilot itself is a HD 1080 file. All future episodes have been shot on Black Magic Ursa Minis in glorious 4.6K for a final product in true 4k.

Press Release

Press Release:

"Issues With..." A Panel Discussion- releases its official un-aired pilot episode on Friday October 4th, 2019 at 7 PM.

After over a year in the planning, Issues With is set to release an un-aired pilot episode ahead of the anticipated full season of 12 episodes in 2020. Filmed in November of 2018 at NC Comic Con, the un-aired pilot features a stellar interview with Afua Richardson (acclaimed artist of World Of Wakanda, Representative John Lewis's autobiographical graphic novel Run, and many more). Richardson gets deep and personal, detailing her difficult early life, and over coming incredible odds to rise above the limitations life threw at her. She charms and delights with tales of brushes with a career in music, performance, and even a bit of erotica under an assumed name. Most of all, she inspires with he passion and warmth.

Since last year, Issues With formed a working relationship with Shelton Drum of Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC, where they filmed the entire first season over the Con's three days. Issues With holds an exclusive arrangement with Heroes Con, thus the only way to get this interview with Richardson out was to share it online.

Issues With is choosing to post this un-aired pilot online as a preview of what's to come, and mostly because of how great the interview with Richardson turned out. It was filmed with a small crew in a private room located near the Con floor, during an initial test phase for the Issues With show concept. During that initial two days, interviews were also conducted with Jeremy Whitley (who was re-interviewed officially for season one) and Evan "Doc" Shaner (who they hope to interview anew at a future Heroes Con (though some of the footage shot at NC Comic Con may appear online with Issues With in the future).

The Richardson episode also includes footage from the Con floor and interviews with many fans, which will also be a big part of the regular season episodes when they air.

Issues With is dedicated to having sincere and intimate conversations with comic book creators, showing fans the real people behind some of their favorite comics. Their goal is to go far beyond the panels (on the page and at the Cons) and tell stories fans have never heard before. Secret origins will be told!

Tune in for more soon.
